I am using Windows XP Pro (English version). I have a Home LAN runing at AdHoc mode. This USB WLAN adapter works very poorly on my desktop. It produces much heat in a short time, and keeps disconnecting.

I went back to BicCamera hoping to return it or exchange to another product, but was refused.

Faint, can it work on English OS?

Please test on the Japanese version OS. It will exchange, if there is still a problem.

I got this product at 2004/04/26.
And, I experienced the same problems as you did.
So, I went to BicCamera-Shinjuku, at 05/01.
And,I could exchange to another one.
But,The same problems occured.
If you can read Japanese,
You will find in This board,
The mesages are the same claims.
I think,This produst shoud be recalled.

It's me again.

I now get it work in my English XP. I installed the English driver from http://www.planex.net. I guess there should be no problem for the difference of location, as most WLAN chip's firmware should have world-roaming preset.

This adapter cannot connect to itself when it serves as the Adhoc WLAN host. It always shows "connection unavailable". Only when another adhoc station joins it, the connection could be established. But for Planex's PCMCIA card, as what I am using on my notebook, it could connect to itself even only one Adhoc station is present. I guess this is a bug of the driver, is it?

I am using XP's Internet Connection Sharing to share the Internet access within the Adhoc WLAN. The USB adapter works fine, except that it's easy to get disconnected. And when it is disconnected, you cannot reconnect it by turning radio OFF then ON. You have to unplug it then plug it in again. That's what I am doing.

The heat problem remains the same. I have to use a USE cable and put the adapter in a place where the heat goes quickly.

Last, I agree, this product should be recalled. It's a pity that it is the only 802.11g adapter with a USB interface, up to now, in the market as I can find.
