Hi, Minasan, Konnichiwa.
Kono DHX1 no D-Theater wa Region 2. Demo USA Hanbai no D-Theater tapes wa Region 1 (for USA spec video). Dakara, incompatible. Hondou ni Zanzen desu. Is it possible to modify the DHX1 to become Region FREE like other DVD players?

In Japan, D-theater videos are currently not yet available. So, we cannot say for sure if region code of DHX1 can be changed. I don't know what kind of DVD players you are talking about, but unless you have a very special skills, my guess is that region code cannot be modeified.

I also agree with him on this point. To tell the truth,I brought
this deck DHX1 from Japan to USA and tried to play back Terminator 2. but Reject signal came out on the panel.So I am afraid that it can not be modifed.

There are many DVD players can be modified to region free! Tadoeba: Sony, Toshiba, Pioneer, Pana... brand name goods. You may enter secret codes on Remocon or add a modchip or reburn ROM to do it. And many no brand name players even skip region restriction chip! That means you don't need to do anything, it's region free manufactured. :) However, still some players can't be modified by any way I mentioned. :( So those are not popular.
Since hackers can get rid of region restriction issue on DVD, I guess they should be able to do the same to DVHS. Just who is the first one breaks this region problem, s/he is a HERO!

If you can't play prerecorded D-Theater T2 tape in US on DHX1, neither its TV tuner is compatible with US spec, what's the point to buy it? I don't think you can receive Japan DBS single in US. So what do you do with that video?

As you know , the tuner in the Japanses version models does not work in the US. but it does not matter because the Diretv tuner is directly connected with my VCRs. That is how you can record not only NTSC but High Definition pics. Another reason is that using the Victor DF-480 tape I bring in from Japan, you can also record 40 hours with LS5 mode. I hope that it is a great advantage.

Oh, so wakatta, that's how you connect. If so, why not buy Pana, forgot model #, it offers ls7 recording speed. then you can record even longer on 480 tape!
