i am considering to buy this model when i visit japan sometime nextweek. and i wonder that there is any option to change language?

This model does not have English menu option.
For tourist, Panasonic released a catalogue PDF including cameras linled below.

Some shops are handling(selling) overseas model for tourist.

First, you've put this question to follow well. Will there be an entry page of English here?
Japan localization version of DMC-TZ40 is available only for Japanese Language according to the information of the Web.
http://panasonic.jp/dc/tz40/spec.html
言語表記 means available language. 日本語 means Japanese.
Since it seems there is also a Global version, after you will try to review of DMC-TZ40 operations in Japan, you can try to consider the purchase in the Web.
