Streaming Audio ならば WiiM Pro Plus でもう十分なのに Computer Audio においてはどうして Berkeley Audio Design Alpha USB Series ($2495) までも投資しなければいけないのは甚だ疑問である。

As an offshoot of the SRD-7 below, I’ve made a few units with Lundahl transformers instead of the Stax units. The rest of the circuitry is mostly the same except the Lundahl units are further upgraded with better power transformers, better parts and upgraded wiring. What the Lundahl transformers bring to the table is a much larger core, C-core at that, with very much improved wiring. They are a bit lower in ratio compared to the Stax units, so they need more voltage (or gain) to get get to the same output level. The lower ratio means less distortion and over all losses in the transformers too for much better performance.
They can be set to either 115V or 230V via the internal voltage selector and will be preset before shipping out.

Mjolnir Audio SRD-7 Energizer, Stax Trafo Model:
People have been asking for years to do some transformer boxes (or energizers) to drive electrostatic headphones and here they are with a brand new version. Over the years I’ve accumulated a large number of Stax transformer boxes, some of which I have converted to pro bias but most have been scrapped. The only things I saved were the transformers and the Stax sockets. So what I did here is to put the excellent transformers into a much better enclosure with my own bias supply to maximize their potential. On top of that the input to the transformers is protected from overload and the output has a clamp circuit so it can never damage the headphones connected to it. This is a fully passive circuit which only kicks in if the transformer peaks at roughly 550Vpp, 1100Vppss. Any higher than that and you run the risk of damaging Pro bias headphones.
There is nothing here in the signal path except the transformers and the input protection circuitry. The left and right channels are also isolated so no issues with using bridged amps. A common ground will turn them into smoke right quick so I would never set it up like that. The boxes can be set for either 117V or 230V with an internal switch.
The latest version now has a new chassis design to be more inline with my other amps, R-core power transformer and numerous other improvements.
Price: 820$ plus shipping

この方式の最善策であるが、
① 世界最高クラスの Power Amplifier(s) と併用（接続）する。
② 世界最高クラスの Transformers を内蔵している SRD-7 を使用する。
の2点であろう。
上記②において、STAX 製品あるいは既成の Lundahl 製品では残念ながらこの基準をクリアすることはおそらく出来ないであろう。
ということは、この方式がさらに発展する余地は皆無に近いかも知れない。もし、現在までにその余地があったならば新たにどこかで商品化していただろうに。
という訳で、あくまでも格安 (\10,000 前後）な中古 STAX SRD-7 mk2 を用いた実験の域を出ないのである。

でも今の補完放送は従来のFM本放送に比べ出力が小さい感じで場所によってはステレオ受信できないこともあって困ります。

「Dirac-LiveRユーザーマニュアル-2023年2月」を読んで、測定をします。
下記の手順を繰り返します。
1.何を変更したかがわからなくなるので、フィルターに変更した手順を記録する。
2.変更を加えたフィルターをエクスポート。
3.基準とするフィルターと試聴比較し、良いと思うものを残す。
気に入ったフィルターが見つかれば完成です。

だったので、50Hz以下を出せるようにF-support Lowの値を変えました。
スマホのSpectroidアプリでスピーカーから50Hz以下が出ていることを確認できました。

HUBER+SUHNER Sucoflex 104 をクロックやらSPDIF接続にも使ってます。
音が良いと言うより、高信頼性で高周波業界の標準ケーブルとして使わてていて TELECの認証試験機やら理研なんかでも使われてました。
3本ほど買いましたが、すべて 27GHzまでの実測データが付いてきます。
オーディオ用というネーミングだけで値段釣り上げているケーブルなんかより よっぽど質実剛健です。
直径5mmほどですが、硬くて曲がりにくいので取り回しの余裕のある長さにした方がええです。

いや、でした。
自分が昔から懇意にしている、とあるケーブルブランドのクロックケーブルが、セミリジッドケーブルを超えていました。

予算的に厳しい様でしたら、その下のMCD3050が1本3万円です。
実はセミリジッドケーブルを超えたというのは、これの事です。
FIDELITYGATEの代表は、ちょっと常軌を逸した変態で、高音質の為なら自社の損失も厭わないという人です。
ここのケーブルと同性能のケーブルを他社で買おうとすると、3倍の金額が必要です（本当）。

Stax SRM-270S Electrostatic Driver Unit ($445) が米国では単売可能であるということなのでそれを一つ発注しておいた。要するに逆輸入である。

ただし、そのDC電源部(12VDC)はセンターがマイナスであるので、付属のACアダプターではなく一般的なセンタープラスのACアダプターを用いるときには、極性変換ケーブルアダプターを使用する必要がある。
デスクワーク中に手元にある Stax Earspeakers を気軽に楽しむためにも SRM-270S は手頃な寸法 (132(W) x 38(H) x 153(D)mm; 540g) である。

極性変換ケーブルアダプター(5.5mm/2.1mm) であるが、手元にあるものを適宜利用することになる。
確か、拙宅には極性変換プラグアダプター (iFi Audio 製品に付属しているのと同じもの）も存在していると思うが、DCジャックへの機械的負担を考慮して極性変換ケーブルアダプターの方を好むのである。

大成エレクトロニクス AD-12501P の仕様書(.pdf) を見るとこれが STAX AC-1250 とほぼ同じであることが分かる。
「銘板」および「極性の違い (AD-12501P はセンタープラス, AC-1250 の方はセンターマイナス）」が主な相違点であろう。
ということは、STAX AC-1250 も非安定タイプということになる。
なお、安定化タイプの PATOS DK020-R (12VDC/500mA) の仕様書(.pdf) も確認済みである。

拙宅では普段、上記の組み合わせで音楽再生を楽しんでいるが、STAX SRM-D50 の寸法・重さなどがちょっと大げさすぎるので、その代わりに STAX SRM-270S をわざわざ導入する訳である。
どのみち、拙宅では STAX SRM-D50 を DAC としては活用していないので小さな SRM-270S でも十分なのである。
ついでに言えば、SR-L700MK2 以外の STAX Earspeakers (OLD STAXs も含めて）には全く興味も関心もない。

英国の正規販売店から購入した iFi Audio iPower X (5V/3.0A) UK Version の内容物を久しぶりにチェックしたところ Reverse polarity adapter for centre pin negative products なるものが含まれていたことを確認した（添付画像のもので使用上の要注意品なのでそのボディの色は白色である）。
ところがである。どういう訳か、この製品をG検索（英語版）しても全くその検索網に引っかからないのである。

本日早朝に STAX SRM-270S が無事拙宅に届いた。
早速、内容物点検を行ったが、付属品のACアダプターは米国向けにどこかで調達したようなSTAX純正ではない小型なものである。
PATOS DK020-R + Polarity Reverse Adapter Cable 供給でこの SRM-270S の通電チェックだけは済ませたが、拙宅のシステムへの導入(setting up)はこれからである。

STAX SRM-270S の試聴を開始した。現時点でも DC 電源供給のための AC Adapters の選別作業中である。
Patos LPS AC Adapter は音質的に全く論外であった。
MeanWell GSM24U12-P1J (2.0A) はこの先希望的である。
MeanWell GSM36U12-P1J (3.0A) は雑な音楽を提供してくれて論外。
Russ Andrews SMPS (2.0A) もこの先希望的である。
SRM-270S もその他の日本製造の STAX Drivers に共通した STAX HOUSE SOUND を有しているようだ。
音楽的にはそれほど深みが感じられぬが、ともかく SRM-270S のために適切な AC Adapter ぐらいは探すことにしよう。

そして現在、Trilogy Audio H1 Headphone Energiser (Stax) - Dem Unit - Outstanding Condition が eBay UK に出品されている。

拙宅としてはもちろんこの出品物の購入を検討せざるを得ないのであるが、少々頭痛の種が存在しているのである。
それは、STAX SR-L700MK2 以外に STAX Earspeakers の中にこれは有望であるという機種が未だに見当たらないのである。だから当時、いわば妥協を重ねて SR-L700MK2 を選んだ訳であるが。
もちろん、STAX SR-X9000 なども検討はしたが、その過去に拙宅でも STAX SR-007A/SRM-700T combo を新品購入して試聴したことがあるが、余りにもHi-Fi で音楽性の欠片も感じられなかったのでその後両方とも売却した経緯がある。
さて、その SR-X9000 であるが、巷ではおおむね大好評らしいがその設計上から生じた品質信頼性に疑問点があると拙宅では捉えている。

Trilogy SPD H1 Energizer について改めて調べたところ、この製品に使用されている真空管をその使用者各自で勝手に交換することは出来ないことが分かった。Trilogy Audio 社の工場でバイアス再調整が必要となるからである。これは英国本国以外の所有者にとっては非常に不便な状況となるであろう。
ということで、それの eBay UK 出品物に対しては本当に残念であるがその入札を断念せざるを得ない。

本日、STAX SR-L700MK2 関連の Energizer を探索したところ、幸いにも eBay UK に
"RARE MJOLNIR AUDIO KGSSHV MINI XLR BALANCED ELECTROSTATIC AMPLIFIER STAX"
という大変興味深い商品が出品されていることが分かった。

"RARE MJOLNIR AUDIO KGSSHV MINI XLR BALANCED ELECTROSTATIC AMPLIFIER STAX"
は現在UPS輸送中であるが、この機種の入力端子は XLR Female （画像1）であるので、拙宅で使用する際には RCA Female to XLR Male Connectors が必要となる。
まあ、その Connectors としては無難なところで Cardas Audio 製のものを用いておけば十分であろう（画像2, 3）。

＞SRM-270S もその他の日本製造の STAX Drivers に共通した STAX HOUSE SOUND を有しているようだ。
音楽的にはそれほど深みが感じられぬが、ともかく SRM-270S のために適切な AC Adapter ぐらいは探すことにしよう。
拙宅の音楽再生環境においては音楽の深みがないというのは致命的である。このまま行けば、SRM-270S の購入は失敗に終わり、その結果これは早々に断捨離箱に向かうことになるだろう。
もはや、SRM-D50 (UK Model) に比較するまでもない。やはり、SRM-D50 と違って STAX 日本の設計した Drivers はことごとく拙宅においては失望をもたらすだけであった。

STAX SRM-270S (US Model) 付属の AC Adapter (LPS; 120VAC INPUT/12VDC, 500mA OUTPUT) を手持ちの横河電機製の昇圧トランス(100VAC to 117VAC) に接続して SRM-270S を試聴して見た。
ＳRM-270S の性格に変化は認められず。もはや、供給電源どうこうの問題ではなく、拙宅においてはこれが SRM-270S の限界であるという最終判断を下した。-> 断捨離箱に移動済み。
まあ、短い期間であったが STAX JAPAN 製造の Energizer における STAX House Sound を再認識出来たのが唯一の収穫であった。

MJOLNIR AUDIO KGSSHV MINI が本日午後に拙宅に無事到着した(UPS -> Yamato Transport)。
先方が親切にもユニット内部の電源切り替えによって US Model (115VAC) に変更してくれたので、早速下記のシステムにて試聴を開始した。Mjornir は A級アンプなのでこの夏場は放熱が凄まじい。このような時にこそ静寂な DC卓上ファンの出番である。

過去の一時期、拙宅でも WiiM Ultra (2024年製造）を所有していたが、"a bit of glare in the highs" も含めて音楽性の欠如が知覚出来たので、さっさと売り払った経緯がある。ついでに WiiM Pro Plus (2023年製造）も売却してしまった。そろそろ2025年製造の WiiM Pro Plus が日本市場にも出回っていると思われるので、今年10月以降のアマゾン日本経由でその Pro Plus を購入予定である。ただし、WiiM Ultra についてはその機能的側面（これは"Bridge" ではない！）が同意出来兼ねるので将来の購入予定は全く未定である。

拙宅における MJOLNIR AUDIO KGSSHV MINI/STAX SR-L700Mk2 combo の音楽性に関しての限界が明らかになって来た。
この組み合わせよりも拙宅では STAX SRM-D50/SR-L700Mk2 の方が音楽的に充実している印象である。
はっきり言えば、急いで MJOLNIR AUDIO KGSSHV MINI の購入に踏み切ったのが勇み足であったということである。
このままではフラストレーションが溜まったままである - やはり Trilogy Audio SPD H1 Energizer 購入を出来るだけ慎重に再検討した結果として上記の eBay UK に出品中のデモ品にMake Offer Option を適用することにした - その結果、幸運にも本日落札することが出来た。
MJOLNIR AUDIO KGSSHV MINI は私が知る限りにおいて Dr. Kevin Gilmore 設計のものがベースとなっている。
KGSSHV における KG は Kevin Gilmore を意味する。Kevin Gilmore 設計の HPA を米国 Headamp から購入したことがあるが、それは拙宅では他の機種ほどの感動を与えてくれなかったので後に売却した経緯がある。
それに対して、Trilogy PD H1 は Nic Poulson of Trilogy Audio (Founder, Technical Director, Principal Engineer) の渾身の一作品である。拙宅では、彼の設計した Trilogy 931, 933 Headphone Amplifiers をこの上なく満足して愛用している。従って、私の彼に対する尊敬は最大級である。
なお、伝説となった STAX T2 Energizer の現代版が市場にはいくつか存在するが、特に Kerry's T2 (Eksonic Audio T2) も調査して見たが, 拙宅ではそれに対しては肝心な情報は未だ得られていない (Reviews,

There are two websites which contain a world of information - headfi and headcase. Headfi is the one to go to as headcase is rather niche and targeted for the DIY community.
A good place to start would be googling the name Dr. Kevin Gilmore. Dr. Gilmore is a retired chemistry professor from Northwestern University in Chicago. He is a headphone enthusiast, organizer of CANJAM 2010, and headphone amplifier designer par excellence with a particular affinity for Stax Headphones.
Justin Wilson of HeadAmp manufacturers the GSX MK2 and GSX Mini which are both amps for dynamic headphones. The circuits are Gilmore designs. Justin also manufactures the Blue Hawaii SE for electrostatic (Stax) headphones - once again a Gilmore design. Mjolnir Audio in Iceland is run by Birgir Gudjonsson, a DIY builder who manufacturers a range of Stax amplifiers culminating with his totl CARBON amp. All of his amps are Gilmore designs as well. Here is an interesting story which speaks about Dr. Gilmore. The most famous amplifier Stax ever made was the legendary T2 (Google is your friend). I believe about 50 production versions made their way into the wild - and almost all either blew up, over heated, and are effectively non functioning. The debacle resulted in Stax declaring bankruptcy. The T2 to this day provides the absolute pinnacle performance for Stax headphones however it was completely unreliable.
Stax allowed Dr. Gilmore to review the schematics and recreate a working and functioning amplifier with their blessing. This project started in 2009 and continues to this day. The only caveat was the amplifier could never be “commercialized” and could only be built by the DIY community. It is perhaps the most complicated build one can undertake however there are 2 DIY builders who will take on commissioned builds (6 month wait).*"

息抜きに久しぶりに AliExpress 探訪をした。
本日から Fall Sale が開始されたので、そのための Promo Codes を確認してから掘り出し物は何かないかと見回したところ Veclan Store において Venture Electronics からの新商品 Venture Electronics Devastator Dongle DAC が販売されていることを知った。
早速、Type C to 3.5mm model および Type C to 4.4mm model を一点ずつ発注したところである。
まあ、これらに対してそれほどの期待はしていないが、Venture Electronics なりの良品であると信じて見ることにした。

Trilogy Audio H1 の試聴を開始した、と言いたいところであるが思わぬ事態に出くわして現在も困惑中である。
何と、本機の左チャンネルから音が出ないのである。右チャンネルは正常であることは確認した。
今日のところはやはり左チャンネルから音が出ないのである。一応、やれることはすべて試したが出ないものは出ないのである。
Energizers として Stax D50, Mjolnir Audio KGSSHV MINI ではもちろん左チャンネルからも音が出ているしそれが正常であることは確認した。
明日、Trilogy Audio H1 で再試行の予定である。

Trilogy H1 の販売主とも緊密に連絡を取りあっているが、未だに解決策が見つからない。
幸いなことにその販売主は Trilogy H1 の主任設計者である Nic Poulson とも親しそうなので彼から Nic にfeedback してくれている。
最悪の場合には、点検・修理のために英国に送り返すか、あるいは私が手元にある Trilogy H1 をすっぱり諦めて忘れるかである。
このようなゴタゴタについに巻き込まれてしまったのも授業料と考えればよいけれど、いずれにしても当分の間は冷却期間を設けて私としては何が望みなのかについてじっくり見直すことにしよう。

それよりも日本国内に在住している真空管アンプの技術者（修理専門店も含む）にこの本体の点検を依頼することも考えている -> Stax Japan にそれらについて聞いてみよう。
昔は、横浜市中区吉田町にヴィンテージ真空管オーディオ製品の専門店があって、そこで修理も可能であったが、しかし、今となってはその店も閉店してしまった。
ともかく、本体を Trilogy Audio 社に送り返さないで日本国内でこの本体の異常原因を究明する必要がある。

Trilogy H1 の内部写真を見ても明白であるが、真空管は横刺しになっている。
これでは、本体を梱包した梱包物に上下からの余分な振動が加わるとちょっと怖い。
今回は輸送手段が UPS であったのでなおさらである（拙宅でも過去に UPS 配送で荷物がダメージを受けたことが2度ある - 英国からの真空管モノラルパワーアンプ EAR 509II と香港からのトランジスターパワーアンプ CLASSE)。
出来れば今回は先方に FedEx を選択して欲しかったのは言うまでもない。
まあ、長い人生このようなこともあるさ。

本日、思い切って本体の天板を開けて各真空管がそれぞれのソケットにしっかり固定されているかを調べたところ、左チャンネルにある最も背の高い真空管がそのソケットにしっかり固定されていないことが分かった。
そこでそれをソケットにしっかり固定して見たら、あーら不思議、左チャンネルから正常に音が出るようになったのではないか。
これで問題は完全解決である。
もう輸送中に何が起こるか分からぬということをかなり思い知らされたこの4日間であった。

拙宅において Electrostatic Energizer TRIO:
Trilogy Audio H1, Mjornir Audio KGSSHV MINI, Stax D50
がすべて 240VAC 環境下において完全運用可能となったので、これを機会に現在手持ちの Stax SR-L700Mk2 (BluTack MODD) に加えて何かできれば別の機種も一台新品購入しようかと再び模索し始めた。
Audeze CRBN 2 ($5,995)
Dan Clark Audio CORINA ($4,499)
など、これまでの Planar Magnetic Headphones 専業メーカーがなぜか Electrostatic Headphones の世界に参入してきた格好になっている (HiFiMAN も同様であるが商品管理の問題があって拙宅ではこのメーカー品は論外である）のはどうなのであろうか。
しかし残念ながら、Audeze や Dan Clark Audio のように音楽的な魅力に乏しい製品を拙宅で導入する可能性はほとんどない。
結局 Stax 製品に話が戻って来た -> となれば、第一候補はやはり SR-L700Mk2 となってしまう。
ということで、「今回も」 Stax SR-L700Mk2 新品購入することに決定した次第。

昨日、注文しておいた SR-L700Mk2 が拙宅に無事届いたので、早速動作確認を兼ねてざっと試聴して見た。
悪くはなさそうである。これならまあまあ期待が持てるであろう。
ただし、標準装備のヘッドフォンケーブルの長さが2.5mなので拙宅ではさすがにかなり持て余し気味である。
幸い、STAX社では別売り品として長さが1.5mのケーブルも用意してあるということなので、今後は1.5mのものに差し替える予定である。

拙宅で初めて WiiM Pro Plus を導入した理由は極めて単純で、Andrew Everard 氏による Hi-Fi News & Record Review (HFN) における評論記事において Pro Plus が Sound Quality Score 90% を獲得したという動かし難い事実が存在するからである。
なお、私が知る限り、あいにく同氏は WiiM Pro についてはこれまで評論していない。
であるから、最初は WiiM Pro など拙宅においては全く眼中になかったのである。過小評価の類いかも知れぬ。
しかしながら、現在では拙宅でも WiiM Pro にも光を当てるべきであろうという考えに変わって来ている。
言い換えれば、それほど WiiM Pro Plus 出現が Streaming Audio の世界において衝撃的であったのである。

音楽的に Abigail Pro は論外、Apple も特筆出来ることは全くなし -> 購入する価値なし。
Devastator は音楽の聴かせどころをもってはいるが、あいにく音楽に忠実ではない -> そのうちに飽きてしまう。
Odo は価格の割にはとても好感の持てる音楽表現を提供している -> これは存在意義があり。

＞本日(10/4) になって WiiM 製品に 20% の値引きが適用された（プライム感謝祭先行セール）。
早速、拙宅では WiiM Pro を発注したところである。明日(10/5)配送ということなので今から楽しみである。
予定通り 10/5 に商品は無事到着した。が、厳密な内容物点検によって もしかしたらこれは Open Box ではないかという疑惑が湧いた。

WiiM Pro が英国の販売店から昨日 Royal Mail にて発送された。
ところで、拙宅では、これまで WiiM 製品 (WiiM Pro Plus 2台、WiiM Ultra 1台、WiiM Pro 1台）の使用を断念した思い出したくもない嫌な記憶がある。これだけ 私の頭を悩ましてくれた製品も珍しい。やはり廉価というのはそういうことかと納得した。
そもそも WiiM のような廉価製品の市場をハイエンドオーディオ市場と同様に理解するのが間違いなのであろう。

Stax SR-007 を探し回っていたら Mjolnir Audio "Used Headphones"

において Fontek Research A-4/C4 に出くわした。丹羽さんが設計されたものである。一度、丹羽さん宅にお邪魔してそれを試聴する機会を得たことがあるので、今となっては大変懐かしい製品である。
"Now its time for something exceedingly rare, Fontek Research A-4 and C4 energizer. Fontek was run by an ex-Stax employee into the early 2000’s (AFAIK) when he passed away. The company folded then but these are rather unique as they use two electret drivers per channel, stacked inside the earcups. The energizer is so big as it contains 4 transformers. Utterly bonkers design but so very, very rare. I’ve been following the market in Japan for two decades now and only a handful of these units have come up for sale in that time.
When I got this set, the energizer was missing the unique speaker connector these use and just had loose wires running from the back of it. I removed that and fitted some regular speaker binding posts as the stock plugs are impossible to find at this point. The earphones had the stock earpads still on them but they had completely broken down. I removed them and fitted my regular SR-X leather earpads.
Price: 795$ plus shipping"

幸いなことに、東京都内にあるヘッドホン専門店において、

結論から言えば、前者は全く問題にならず私にとっては Rubbish であるということである。

＞現在注文中の NAD D 3020 V2 Amp が米国から拙宅に届くまではとりあえず手元にある Russ Andrews Rave 1 Amplifier によって妥協しながら Fontek A-4/C4 をドライブすることになる。
上記の組み合わせで試聴を開始した。まずは動作確認問題なし。
かなりの満足度をもって古典西洋音楽に対応してくれているのがとても好ましい。丹羽さんに感謝である。
やはり、オーデイオ製品も誰が設計したかが最も重要であることを再認識してくれた製品である。
なお、現時点では Russ Andrews Rave 1 Amplifier に対しては 100VAC 入力での使用であるが、この製品には 12VDC-15VDC 入力も可能であるので手元にある MCRU LPS (12VDC/4.0A) を投入予定である。

Category B: Network Streamers に関して拙宅では WiiM Pro, WiiM Pro Plus が稼働中であった。
A/B 比較試聴の結果、拙宅では WiiM Pro (2025) の個体の方が WiiM Pro Plus (2024) の個体に比べて音楽的により好ましいことが確認出来た。
そこで WiiM Pro Plus の方のみを拙宅での Network System から外すことにした。
時間をかけて文献等を検討した結果、その代わりとして程度・状態が良好な中古品の Bluesound NODE N130 (2021) を導入することにした。
もちろん、Streaming Transport としての活用であることは言うまでもない。
