hi, sorry i don't have a japanese font
on my PC, and i can't type in japanese.

anyway i was wondering about buying a
new digital camera, and i researched on
the internet and i've already narrowed
it down to 2 cameras which are
powershot G7 and finepix F30.
which would you recommend?
i want to take pictures of my friends,
family, natures, buildings, my pet,
both inside and outside etc, etc
there are so many things that i want to
take! i had my old one, so i know how
to use cameras.

i thought G7 or F30 would be the best
for me, because i don't like to use a
big camera like SLRs cuz they are heavy
lol. yet i don't like too small cameras
either because i don't know they have
limited functions. G7 is pretty bigger
compared to other real compact
cameras, but it's still okay. i like G7
in that it has the image stabilizer,
high iso settings, face detection tech,
and i just like the pictures canon
cameras produce. they look really nice.
i also like F30 because it has a very
high iso setting and less electronic
noise!! so both have some advantages
and disadvantages. but i know both
are very good cameras. so i am now
at a loss as to decide which to buy!
which do you think is better?

A price is F30×2 = G 7.
G7 is suggested if this is all right.

If the price is not factor, I vote for G7 also.

I recommend F30 totally points,
because it is compact, so easy to use,
and more beautiful picture than G7 at
darkness point and night view.

If you have more opportunity to
shot indoor or night scean,choose F30,
not G7.

Disadvantage of F30 is not to use SD Card.
SD card is accountting for a large share of memory card for digital camera in Japan.

Anyway There are completely different
F30 and G7 in darkness point.

I own F30 and G7.
And I use both.

It is choice good both.
And it is difficult choice too..
I think that I may decide it with a
budget and size.

As you know, F30 is Fewness of a noise of high ISO and
longevity life of battery will increase opportunities
of photography.

G7 can put it on a compact camera by the present
hi-tech functions are almost included.
But high picture in high ISO is inferior in
comparison with f30 a little.

F31fd which is the next model of F30 is released.
Yesterday in Japan.
Face-detection is with it.

Expense will be intermediatedegree of f30 and g7.
You may compare it if you live in an area you can buy
this or is released soon.

How about A710 IS ?

It is an excellent camera and almost as good as G7.

the g7 has much better body, probably made of metal(I dont know what kind of metal for sure) ?


I believe that the Power Shot A710 IS is the best camera for the price and can be a plastic version of the G7.

This camera has been selected for the DIWA gold award along with Panasonic FZ7 and F30.


But If you print alot of A3 , well then the G7 'll be better ?

I have a question : Can you return cameras you buy on line in Japan?


I am now in China , always return cameras if I do not like it so I can buy 3 or 2 at once and test them ;ergonomics or ISO capability .


I had a plan to return FZ50 , which totally disappointed me in term of image quality , it was worse than the A710IS .


But my father brought it back to Japan a few days a go, and he did not like it either despite of his initial impression of camera's great features and ergnomics design.

So now he needs to return it or sell it on line .

Do you think any shop a big camera shop such as Kitamura, bic, PC success etc will buy an used camera?


Or just have to go to a Ebey like an auction site?

I also love Canon G-series.
I have G2.
It's a sweet memory of mine,
when I bought G2, loving its design and
lens.
I recommend G7.
Now digital cameras became smaller and
smaller,and a camera like G7 became
rare.
But a just fit size camera like G7 is
good to grip in your hand.
This is why Canon didn't stop making
G-series cameras.
SLRs are too heavy, and small cameras
can't satisfy you.
From your question, you look like you
really won't to buy G7.
Just go on.

Looks better than G7 , to be honest .

This model is really cheap as considered the image quality .

you can see many pics taken with the A640 at the link above.

also the G7 gallery at dpreview.com was interesing , many pics are from Asakusa area and I guess Yamanasi?

I feel if the 6x zoom is not so important to you ,the A640 is a breathtakingly great deal.

The actual resolution comparison shows you that the A640 has a bit better lens than that of on the G7 , and DIGIC2 imaging processor seems more matured and better in term of handling.

I think the G7 images are too soft , and losing alot of details at ISO200 to the pretty aggressive noise reduction , and as a result creating smearing color effect like water paint(though definitely not as bad as the world famous noise box Pannie FZ50).

the LX2 is even worse than the FZ50 . the FZ50 can be a good camera when you limt it to ISO100.
