名古屋のビックカメラで年明けに購入しました。ところが、CD−ROMに同封してあるはずの、シリアルナンバーが同封されておらず、JetShellをインストールさえできません。おまけに、自分のコンピューター（Windows XP)は、何をどうしても、それを認識せず、困っています。ディバイスマネージャーにはHDDとして認識はされてはいます。

返品をしようと思うのですが、ビックカメラに頼むべきでしょうか？それとも、コウォンのサポートセンターに電話をかけるべきでしょうか。

ちょくちょく、故障の話や最初からおかしいと言う話が、あちこちで書かれているので、この会社の品質管理に疑問を持たざるを得ません。（アメリカの　amazon.com のサイトにも、同様のコメントがかかれてありました。）

This was my first flash-based MP3 player... After about 15 months of use, 2-4 times each week for 30-40 minutes each time, it simply died.

（1年と3ヶ月後に壊れました。週に2から4回、30分程度使っただけで。）

Reset button does nothing. My PC doesn't even detect it anymore.

（リセットボタンは役立たず。コンピューターも、プレーヤーを認識しなくなりました。）

Now, with the U2 conveniently (for COWON) out of warranty, I'm forced to shop for another player. My impression of this device based on the manufacturer's website and reviews of similar players is that they are designed to be disposable. .... If *you* do, the 2 year replacement plan would be of benefit.

（幸いにも（皮肉）、1年の保証期間からはずれ、新たにMP3プレーヤーを買わざるをえません。メーカーのホームページや、この会社の他商品の感想等から判断しますと、この会社の製品は使い捨てを前提にしているとしか、おもえません。もし、また買われるなら、2年間の保証プランの購入をお勧めします。

販売店に持っていくのが普通かな。返品でなくて新品交換になると思うけど。

それにしても、憎しみのあまり(？) amazon.com のコメントをベタベタ貼るのは感心しませんね。

アドバイスありがとうございました。確かに、「憎しみのあまり」　と言う指摘には、当たらずも遠からずの感があります。ボイスレコーダーや、ラジオの機能，音質、いわばコンピューターが認識しなかったこと意外は、すばらしい製品であることはわかっています。不快感を与えてしまって、申し訳ありません。

また非難されるかもしれませんが、。。
ここまで立て続けに、同様のreview があると、やっぱり、品質管理　と耐久性に　問題ありといわざるを得ません。

The first thing that happened was the ear phones broke; they literally came apart in pieces as I was removing them from my briefcase. So I bought a good set and enjoyed nine months of flawless operation. Then one day out of the blue, the player would not turn on. Now that the player was out of warranty and I am an electronics technician, I decided to take off the cover and test the internal battery. The battery was almost fully charged. So, I started searching the net for help. Seems many other people were / are having similar problems... one day for no reason many U2's just refuse to turn on. I tried ( many times ) the recommended and convoluted resetting / reflashing procedure that is SO complicated it is doomed to failure. My U2 still refuses to turn on. So I can not recommend this player because of the short life span it might have for you. Seems the last bit of pleaser I will get from this (relatively) pricy gadget is to SMASH it into a million pieces with a very BIG hammer.

フォローするつもりはありませんが、参考までに。

U2-1G を２年前に購入し使用しておりましたが、先日、電源が入らなくなり修理に出した所、簡単な修理(スイッチ交換)ということで、保障が切れているにもかかわらず無料対応していただけました。
日本のメーカーでは蓋を開けただけで「技術料」名目で５千円程度とるのが普通だと思いますが、保障期間外でも無料で修理をしてくれるメーカーもあるんだと感心しております。
