There are a few different points between those models.
(1)Standard
IP220K:MicroMV
MX5000:DV
MicroMV adopts MPEG4 as a compression process, it enables to
record one-hour motion pictures in a MicroMV tape cartridge
which is smaller than that of DV.
By this reason, MicroMV enables to make camcorder smaller
than DV in general.
But, the standard is supported by only SONY, and it does't
have compatibility with DV.

(2)1CCD/3CCD
IP220K:1CCD
MX5000:3CCD
3CCD system has an advantage in picture quality, especially in
color reproduction performance at bright or dark scene.
But in genaral, 3CCD models are bigger than 1CCD models.

(3)Size of still picture
IP220K:2M
MX5000:3M
Both models can take quite high quality still pictures as
camcorders. Although they are not as high quality as 2M/3M
pixel digital cameras, you would not have much complaint.

(4)Image stabilizing
IP220K:electronic system
MX5000:optical system(little deterioration)
The electronic system has a bit of deterioration in picture
quality, and we can't use the function in still-picture mode,
while the optical system has little deterioration and can be
used in still picture-mode.

These are main factors of difference.
I don't recommend you which to buy, but recommend you to confirm size, weight, picture quality, and so on by yourself at the shop.

So if regard size and weight as second point, M
X5000 may be better.
I will go to the shop and compare two of them.
Is the lens of Sony IP 220k better than Matsushita MX5000?

I don't know exactly which lens is better. We can't tell that easily because lens performance has many factors.
For example, talk about resolution, the more pixels of a still picture (=photo) have, the more resolution is required for a lens.
So if you compare still picture quality of them, and find the resolution difference of 2M and 3M, MX5000 lens would have better resolution. But we can't tell MX5000 has better lens with only that reason.
Why don't you compare the still picture quality at the shop?

and found that the picture quality of IP220K is better
than MX5000, especially in the acutance of color.
When display the pictures in TV, IP220k is better,
while on the LCD, MX5000 is better.
BTW, I don't know the function of roling circle near the
lens. I roled it but nothing changed about the pictures.

I guess you saw just the still picture displayed on TV monitor and LCD monitor.
If my words are true, please compare them again.
But if you felt that IP220K is more colorful than MX5000, I recommend you to choose IP220K. The best choice is to choose your favorite one.
